Why PIM systems are a must for E-commerce systems in 2022 E-commerce is booming. According to the German E-Commerce and Distance Selling Trade Association, gross sales in Germany amounted to around 83.3 billion euros in 2020. In 2021, they are expected to rise to 94 billion euros. Digitization has received another boost in the past two years. More and more people are shopping online. As a result, consumers' experiences and demands are increasing. They want to find all the product information that is relevant to them at any time – quickly and clearly. At the same time, a recent study shows that 65 percent of companies have difficulty accessing product data from different company areas. Reducing the amount of data is not the answer because the system setup needs valid data to provide consumers with the best possible user experience. The following applies: companies must know their target group. This is the only way they can deliver the necessary product data appropriately and enhance the user experience (UX) – for example, in the online store. The problem is that the individual requirements of each sales channel often cannot be mapped flexibly in existing systems such as ERP or online stores. And if they can, then only with a great deal of manual effort. The most efficient solution is a product information management system (PIM system).
